Respawn Studio's Mandelorin game has been canceled
Electronic Arts recently announced the cancellation of Respawn Entertainment's new first-person shooter project, which was reportedly Mandelorian.
The widespread and stormy wave of layoffs in the video game industry continues, and recently Electronic Arts announced the layoff of five percent of its entire workforce, which will affect several studios and their projects. The development of one of the important and expected projects of this company has also been canceled and we are not going to see its release anymore. Electronic Arts has officially announced that development of Respawn Entertainment's new first-person shooter based on the Star Wars series has been canceled.
The development of the project was first reported in 2022, and some time ago Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming confirmed that the work will focus on a Mandalore bounty hunter. However, plans have now changed and Electronic Arts has canceled the development of the project so that Respawn Entertainment can focus on the next installment of the Star Wars Jedi series and supporting Apex Legends.
"Respawn Studios' unique ability to connect with players and create exceptional gaming experiences is unmatched in entertainment," said Laura Milla , head of entertainment and technology at Electronic Arts in a statement. As we've explored Yesspawn's collection of games over the past few months, it's clear that the titles our players are most excited about are the Jedi Collection and the rich library of Yesspawn brands.
Knowing this, we have decided to step away from the initial development of Star Wars first-person shooter action to focus our efforts on new projects based on our own brands, while supporting existing games. It's always hard to walk away from a project, and this decision is not a reflection of the team's talent, tenacity, or passion for the game. "Now delivering the next installments of iconic franchises that fans want, the definition of blockbuster storytelling is the right place to focus."
Currently, Respawn Studio is developing the sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Survivor .
